Description
Weekly Art Challenge #89, draw a greek god/goddess.
So I went with Persephone.
Persephone is the goddess of spring, but also of the underworld.
Her mother is Demeter, goddess of Harvest. Her father is Zeus.
As none of the gods wanted to go down to the underworld, Hades began to feel lonely and demanded company. He asked Zeus to send him someone, and Zeus, wanting no fights and not to give anyone else's daughter away, send his own daughter, Persephone.
However, Demeter did not know about this and went looking for her daughter. Because of this, the land became barren.
Zeus could not tell Demeter what he has done, so he send his messenger, Hermes, who could convince people with the way he spoke.
He got the gods to agree to let Persephone be on the land each spring and summer, to get the crops to grow.
And in the autumn and winter, when everything is done growing, she can return to Hades in the underworld.
I found this a really amazing and inspiring story and immidiatly had this idea in mind.
So here it is.
Persephone, for the first time again in spring, walking away from the underworld, her arms wide open to welcome the first sunrays on her skin.
I hope you all like it.
I've used no base, this is all from scratch.
I've worked about 4/5 hours on this all together, i guess? (I never keep track of time when I'm drawing
)
